"They’ll Never Know," was released on September 19, 2000 with great reviews for the single,
"Hey! That’s My Kiss." (See REVIEWS)
DeLaCruz caught the ear of Relentless Nashville's Dave Roy, vice president of product development,
after he received a copy of her independent release, "My Girlfriends Quilt."
He subsequently caught her performance on Time-Warner Cable’s Sounding Board music series
and contacted her. "After one listen to her voice, I was hooked.
Valerie not only has a great vocal range but is a very talented songwriter
who puts a great deal of emotion into her music," says Roy.
The new album featured songs combined from DeLaCruz’s independently
released CDs and new studio recordings to create an album that presents her as a
new artist to an international audience. One highlight is the album’s
title cut, They’ll Never Know, in which the vocal was re-recorded
and then re-mixed by noted Canadian producer/engineer Simon Pressey, who has worked with
Tina Turner and Shania Twain. Valerie finished up production on five additional tunes at Studio 19 in Nashville by such noted Nashville writers as Cathy Majeski,
Stephony Smith, Sunny Russ, Angela Kaset and Jon Vezner. The album features a Who's Who
of Nashville session players including Michael Spriggs, Joe Spivey, Brian Barnett,
Dave Pomeroy, Michael Johnson, Mark Oliverius and Danny Parks. She then
filmed the music video for "Hey! That's My Kiss!" with director Spencer Lasky in Toronto. CLICK HERE for details
